so basically u trying to double virtualize. :smileysilly:

after u enable VT, make sure u do a proper shutdown and then poweron-instead of a reboot

As far as I know, 64-bit is not supported in a nested VM.

In other words, a VM, running on a ESX, which runs in a VM, cannot run anymore a 64-bit OS.

@ Matthias
thats not correct - if the CPU supports it nested VMs can use 64bit

add this line

hv.assumeEnabled = "TRUE"

to C:\ProgramData\VMware\VMware Workstation\config.ini

then try again and post the new log

The Core2 Duo does not have EPT support, so it is not capable of running 64-bit nested VMs under VMware Workstation.

Thanks Jmattson, but what does mean EPT

EPT means "Extended Page Tables."   This feature is required for virtualizing VT-x under Workstation 8.  Virtualized VT-x is required for running 64-bit nested guests.  See javascript:;.

@ jmattson

Yes I see warning and attached file

but who processor support EPT, I note enabled Virtualization Technology on BIOS

And now try install server2008 32bit accept,

Also I use thirdparty Virtualization program and I can install operating system 64bit

EPT is supported on the Nehalem microarchitecture and later (e.g. Core i3, i5, i7).

You *CAN* install a 64-bit OS on Workstation.  Just not a NESTED one.

You can install Windows 64-bit on VMware Workstation.  However, you cannot install Windows 64-bit in a nested VM.  This is because 64-bit guests require VT-x, but Workstation requires EPT to virtualize VT-x, and your CPU does not have EPT.
