Well, I'm having a small problem, which is directly linked to the Mks SandBox Process of vmware,
it turns out that when Opening or Playing a Video with K Lite Codec Pack in Windows XP,
the virtual machine becomes static, to the degree of not being able to do nothing and ends up Stop responding
having to kill the VMX Process from the task manager.
This Also Happens on Windows 7 vm, Windows Vista Vm.
I know that the Problem is linked to VMware Sandbox since the process starts to Consume a lot of resources from my GPU.
My Hardware:
CPU:Core i7 3770
RAM:16GB DDR3 1600MHz
GPU: Nvidia GTX 1050Ti 4GB GDDR5
HDD: 1TB 7200RPM 64MB Cache SATA3.
S.O: Windows 10 Pro For Workstations 22H2.
VMW: Workstation Pro 17.0.2
Hello!
Windows XP is pretty much unstable these days with VMware.
I've tried to replicate this problem and this only happened on XP.
I suggest that you get a new motherboard and CPU, since I have the same GPU, a slower hard drive (5600 RPM but with 128MB cache) and the same OS.
Hope this helps!
My WindowsXP VMs work perfectly fine... of course I don't try any graphic intensive stuff like playing videos. And I'm sticking with Workstation 16.1.2 as the last version to not screw up all kinds of older features.
FabiMarshbb,
I don't see any crash report in the attached log files. Can you reproduce the crash with WS 17.0.2 and attach vmware.log + mksSandbox.log?
You need to upgrade to WS 17 and enable DX12Renderer.
To enable DX12Renderer, please add the following lines to your VM's .vmx file.
mks.enableDX11Renderer=FALSE
mks.enableDX12Renderer=TRUE
Thanks, I'll try and post the results again.
