Enable Auto Start for Local Virtual Machine on Windows Host for VMs in Folders

Hi all,

I've successfully enabled Auto Start for VMs by following this guide: Enable Auto Start for Local Virtual Machine on Windows Host (vmware.com)

However, I've noticed that VMs that are stored in folders within Workstation cannot be configured to Auto Start.  Is it possible to enable Auto Start for VMs in folders?  I've tried playing around with the %ALLUSERSPROFILE%\VMware\VMware Workstation\vmAutoStart.xml file, however that only seems to govern the .vmx path, VM name, and boot order.

It appears as if the only VMs that you can Auto Start are those in the My Computer root folder within Workstation.

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Looks like as long as the vmAutoStart.xml is configured it doesn't matter where you move the VMs.  This way you can edit the .xml file and have the VMs located in any folder within Workstation.
