Is there something like ESX for VmWare workstation?

I want to run Workstation with out using Windows as the base OS.

It sounds like you currently own "VMware Workstation for Windows". You can run VMware Workstation on a linux host if you purchase "VMware Workstation for Linux". Note that License keys are not swappable between the two products. More info: http://www.vmware.com/workstation

Or if your computer hardware is supported by ESXi, you can install the free version of ESXi. ESXi runs on the bare metal, so there is no "base OS". But ESXi has a different feature set than Workstation so it may not work for you. hhttp://www.vmware.com/products/esxi/
