Dual Boot on VMWare Workstation

Hello,

I have just purchased a new laptop and have sucessfully installed both Vista and XP Pro. I would like to use the XP machine installed while using vista. I have followed the instructions but as I am new to this I am having a hard time getting it to work. Are there any other easier instructions that a newb can follow somewhere?

I have tried the instrucionts here but with no luck.

http://www.vmware.com/support/ws45/doc/disks_dualmult_ws.html#1046324

Technical Note: Dual-Boot Computers and Virtual Machines

When I first start the VM I get the popup (Cannot connect virtual device floppy().....) and afterwards I get:

Network boot from AMD .........

CLIENT MAC ADDR:..................

GUID:..............

PXE -E53: No boot filename received

PXE-MOF: Exiting Intel PXE ROM.

Operating System not foun

Thanks in advance.

This document does not support Vista as host OS.

You should install XP in virtual machine using virtual disk.

Do not install XP as second OS in dual boot configuration and use it in VM.

That complicate things greatly and often causes filesystem corruption if precautions ar not taken seriously.

Thanks for the reply Peter.

I guess it was a waste fo time for me to run a dual boot. I thought it would be better to have one just in case the VM was not capable of running something int he vitual environment. I wll try the install using virtual disk as you say and see how it goes. Thanks.
