I installed a second NIC (3c905c-tx-m) on my hp xw6200 that has Windows Server 2008 with VMware Workstation 7.installed.
The NIC driver is installed and works for Windows Server 2008 but the NIC cannot been seen in VMware Workstation 7. Is there a way to get a driver for it?
Workstation doesd not need drivers for the nics - thats the job of the host.
I assume you already tried disabling automatic bridging ...
The easiest way is to re-install Workstation.
If you do not want to do that - try to re-install the vmnetbridge.
To do that:
shut down all VMs and open a cmd - change directory to WS-installation dir
run
vnetlib.exe -- unnstall bridge
reboot
make sure both nics are active and connected
run
vnetlib.exe -- install bridge
this should then enable the vmnetbridge for the newly added nic

VMware products use Virtual Network Adapters so it doesn't matter what Physical NIC is on the Host it can't be see from within the Guest anyway. If you want the Virtual Machine to bridge to that adapter then make the appropriate changes in the Virtual Network Editor.
The problem is only the first NIC shows up in the Virtual Network Editor, not the one newly added (3c905c-tx-m). Is it because VMware Workstation does not have the driver for it? Thanks,
