Host OS: Win 7 x64 SP1
Hardware: i7-2860QM + Geforce GT 555m (optimus)
Guest OS: Win XP x86 SP3
VMware Workstation 10.0.1 (9.x also have this issue)
No other software installed on the Host OS (except VMware)
What I tried:
1. Update driver / VM Tools
2. Install DX / Vc redist / etc.
How to reproduce:
1. Install Steam (version does not matter, it will automatically update itself to the latest version)
2. Launch a game
3. This is how the VM looks like before the game starts
4. After start L4D2, the Prologue is fine
5. However after that the brightness is bad. Changing the brightness settings will not change anything. In some other games the brightness changing feature is disabled inside the VM
6. Even you quit the game, the brightness will stay at that level
Is it a bug or it can be solved by changing something?
Note:
This issue does not apply to all games, Counter-strike and Civ5 work fine.
Games such as Dynasty warriors 7 have this problem
