According to my experience the combination Workstation VMs + NTFS + OneDrive is highly toxic.
The probability of damaged VMDKs is significantly higher when OneDrive is used.
As far as I know this is not mentioned in the documentation - which can only be seen as a careless oversight.
If we know that something is dangerous - we should warn users ....
Do not consider storing VMs on partitions synced with OneDrive - you have been warned ....
Suggestion: prevent VMs from being stored on OneDrive synced disks

This might be better posted in the “documents” areas for Player and Pro, in the navigation pane to the right of this page: https://communities.vmware.com/t5/VMware-Workstation/ct-p/3019-home
The Documents section for Workstation and VMplayer are linked to quite obscure collections of links to Knowledgebase articles.
That location would be fine to hide posts - which is not what I had in mind. ![]()

But they are a permanent archive where entries don’t quickly disappear down the page, which is what will happen with this thread I expect.
It was just a suggestion…
Hi Scott
I was not aware of the design-change.
Last time I looked the documents sections for each area were not linked to the knowlege-base.
More effective would be to send such posts to the product managers and documentation managers
