Dns settings not working when starting VMware workstation

I have some years of experience in using vmware, so I know my way around but have come accross some unusual behavior.

I'm currently in the works of installing an server environment on a desktop, (for testing purposes) and whenever I'm setting my virtual switch my host partly loses connection to internet, to clarify, I can stream radio / play a game / chat online, but I can't browse.

Then when I disable the vmware NIC in my configuration screen, everything is back to normal.

Is this to do with the setup of my subnet ?

My pc has an ordinary ip : 192.168.2.3 255.255.255.0 192.168.2.1 -> all coming from my home router.

Then I setup a virtual switch as an A class with 10.10.0.0 255.255.240.0 and no gateway (the servers dont need internet, aslong as they are connected internally.

and voila, I lose internet on my host. I'm assuming that you can setup vmware like this without affecting you're host computer, or does the host computer has to be in the same range ?

the vNIC are NAT - not bridged
