Disabling Sleep Under 16.2.0

I sometimes accidentally select sleep under Windows 10 instead of Shutdown.  I see VMWare then display a progress bar.  I try clicking cancel, but this doesn't do anything useful.  The guest is still in a weird state.

Is there a way of disabling sleep functionality in the guest hardware emulation? If yes, how do I do this?
