DISKLIB-SPARSE: Auto-000015-s005.vmdk" : failed to open (15): Fail

 

After Windows Restart VMware cannot Power ON 

Error :

Unable to open file "H:\AHD\AHD Auto-000015.vmdk":

The system cannot find the file specified.

Log :

DISKLIB-SPARSE: "C:\Vmware Data\AHD\AHD Auto-000015-s005.vmdk" : failed to open (15): Failed to load header.

 

i go find AHD Auto-000015-s005.vmdk is missing 

 

How To Fix It 

have Try CMD Command 

C:\Program Files (x86)\VMware\VMware Workstation>vmware-vdiskmanager.exe -R "H:/AHD/AHD Auto-000015.vmdk"

same problem

What you may do is to check your A/V whether it detected the missing .vmdk file as a false positive, and quarantined it. I usually exclude *.vm* files from being actively scanned.

To get an overview, please run dir *.* > filelist.txt in the VM's folder, then compress/zip filelist.txt along with all of the header/descriptor .vmdk files (the small text/metadata files without "-s00x" in their file names), and attach the .zip archive to a reply post.

Is H: an internal, or external drive?
