DHCP service does not start after changes to vmnetdhcp.conf

Hello

My setup includes a host running windows 8.1 pro and guest is a Oracle Linux 6.5 with NAT. As I wanted a static IP address for the guest I went ahead and added the below at the end of vmnetdhcp.conf

host machine2 {

hardware ethernet 00:0C:28:D9:D5:95

fixed-address 192.168.37.3

}

As soon as I try to restart the service the dhcp service goes down. Even if I simply reboot the machine post changes, the DHCP service fails to start. When I do a reset of the network config thru network editor and just accept dynamic allocation of IP address to guest things run normal. The same setup works fine on Windows 7 Pro host. Any help would be appreciated.

Hello,

Thanks for using our product.

I tried the same set up on Win7 and Win8.1 host, both of them work well.

So I assume that there is some syntax error when you configured vmnetdhcp.conf.

Maybe missing ";" at end of each line?

A sample would be like this:

host machine2 {

hardware ethernet 00:0C:28:D9:D5:95;

fixed-address 192.168.37.3;

}

Please check and kindly try again.

Thanks!

Thanks for pointing it out. This setup was right in front of me... still I was ignoring/missing the semi-colon at the end. Now, it works perfectly fine. Appreciate your prompt response.
