Cursor disappears moving from seconday display to primary

Product: VMware® Workstation 16 Pro Version: 16.1.1 build-17801498
Host: Windows 10 Pro Guest: Ubuntu 20.04.2 LTS Desktop: GNOME Flashback (Metacity)
3 Displays: Windows | Guest Primary | Guest Secondary
Automatically grab and ungrab the mouse: Checked

Symptom: The cursor always disappears when moving from the guest secondary to the guest primary display. Restoring cursor visibility requires either a mouse click or moving the mouse to the Windows display and back again to the guest primary. No keystrokes including control-G will restore cursor visibility.

All other transitions between displays always work: the cursor always becomes visible.

Unchecking Automatically grab and ungrab the mouse fixes the issue with two major drawbacks:

  1. Very bad flicker when moving the mouse.
  2. The cursor is clamped to the guest displays and can't be freely moved between them and the windows display.

I'd appreciate very much any assistance to resolve this issue.

I am also experiencing the bad flickering with cursor movement. Once the cursor is "sitting still" it is fine. Very curious to what the fix for this may be as I just downloaded VM Workstation Pro 16 today.

I am using Version 16.1.2 build-17966106 with no pending updates.
