Hi
I made a new VM from a phisical machine. But I cannot start it because Ctrl+Alt+Del does not work. Ctrl+Alt+Ins is not working as well. The menu entry Ctrl+Alt+Del is not working as well.
Installing of VMWare Tools is also not working.
Other virtual machines are running and Ctrl+Alt+Del works there.
Version VMWare Workstation 16
Any solution?
How did you do the P2V?
Have you removed or installed any keyboard drivers?
I used the standard settings for P2V. No idea how to remove or install keyboard settings.
I meant within your VM guest OS (whatever that is, you haven’t said)
I made the P2V with the VMWare Standalone Converter 6.2.0.
I made this years ago wit the version 4 and it worked great without any additional installations. I do not removed a keyboard driver in the guest system and I have no idea how to install.
The guest starts until I shoud press Ctrl+Alt+Del. I also happens nothing if I choose it from the menu.
Guest is Win7
Which USB controller is the VM using? If it's USB3, change it to USB2.
If you have another USB keyboard, you can also try this: in VM settings enable "Show all USB input devices" (in the USB Controller settings), start the VM, and attach your second keyboard, passing it through to the VM, then try unlocking the VM with the second keyboard.
Hi,
If this was a P2V and the original hardware was a laptop then this might help:

The link might help if you are an IT expert. I should open an remote desktop connection to the guest and uninstall the keybord and touchpad drivers. But without an detailed manual how to do that, I have no change.
It shoud be possible to remove the drivers on the physical machine and then run the VM Converter. But I do not want change the physical system. The risk is to high, that it is not working anymore afterwards.
Hi,
The gist is to uninstall the Synaptic drivers. Normally that is a matter of selecting the correct option in the Add/Remove Programs section (or whatever it is called depending on your windows version)
Yes you can do that on the physical host too, it will probably impact the touchpad (so have a mouse attached).
Can't really help you with the "need an IT person issue", I share my knowledge here as a volunteer and I'm not available for hire via this forum.

Hi,
That's the virtual machine settings... (the configuration of the virtual machine)
I was talking about a configuration in the virtual machine, as it is Windows 7, it would be "Synaptics drivers" under Add/Remove Programs in the configuration panel.
If the mouse works, then you might be able to use the on screen keyboard to get in.
