Computer STOPS/FREEZES after VM Suspend.

When I suspend a Virtual Machine In VMware Workstation 6.5 on Windows 7 (and I have noticed this on Windows Vista and XP) as a Host OS the computer becomes basically unresponsive for 5 minutes. It's not completly frozen but it's close. The CPU is not 100% but the Disk seems to be busy on Laptop.

My Question is how can I prevent this?

Yes, I have exactly the same problem with VMware Workstation 6, 6.5 and now with 7 that my Windows XP (x64) host is completely unresponsive for about 5 minutes when trying to suspend a e.g. Windows XP guest (1GB mem, 20GB disk). Specially when the guest vm is in use for a while it takes very long and nothing works anymore on a Quad Core CPU with 6GB mem. CPU load is low. Mouse pointer only moves every few minutes until the 'Suspend' is completed after about 5 minutes.

Doing the same with my VMware Fusion 3.x on a Mac with a copy of the same VM guest works like a charm.

Suspending a Linux guest does not (yet) give the same trouble.

Any hints how to change this behavior?
