Changing the maximum amount of graphics memory?

Using VMWare workstation, the maximum amount of graphics memory it allows to be used is 2GB. I was wondering if there was any way to increase via a text file or such?

I have a GTX Titan X, with 12GB video memory, and I would like to increase the video memory of the VM machine up to 6 GB. Is that possible?

The amount of video memory that your hosts videocard has is completely irrelevant.
VMs use a VMware SVGA video card with a maximum video RAM of 2GB.
So you can not use more than those 2GB.
