Cannot reclaim the disk space on host after turning off the VM

I have seen this problem earlier too,but could not find the solution.

While running VM,it consumes disk space on host. After you turn off the VM ,it does not recover the disk space it is holding while running VM.

For instance : Before starting the VM, disk space left on host was 77GB,while running VM,disk space left on host was 75GB, no changes like installing software was made to VM.In fact used CCleaner to clean the temp, registry if any which it cleaned. After turning off the VM,it should return back to 77GB or more in fact since CCleaner was used in VM.

Somewhere the disk space is being hold up.This is resolved only after system restart, but not to the extent of satisfaction.

This has been tried on VMware Workstation 11.1.2 and version earlier I think 11.0.1.

Also this activity was performed even before and after clean install of windows 8.1 as host PC.

The other new egg has come up in 11.1.2 is after turning off the VM, it does not close the vmtray.exe in system tray. When tried to change the workstation preference,it again returns back in system tray and option is restored to show always the vmtray.exe in preferences.

Thanks in advance.
