OK, so I try to install workstation 6.02-59824 on an Ubuntu 64 bit host (see below for all relevant version info) and when I try to run the vmware-install.pl I get the message:
"This version of "VMware Workstation" is incompatible with this operating system. Please install the "x86_64" version of this program instead."
OK, so the version of the workstation I have is from the download area and it is named: "VMware-workstation-6.0.2-59824.i386.tar.gz". I can see that the file-name says i386, but I cannot find any other download file for workstation 6.02. What to do?
Details:
Distro: Ubuntu AMD64 7.10
Kernel: 2.6. 22.14-14-generic
Output from uname -a: Linux lnx64mbpnb01 2.6.22-14-generic #1 SMP Thu Jan 31 23:33:13 UTC 2008 x86_64 GNU/Linux
By the way, the above file(s) installs fine on a 32 bit Ubuntu 7.10
Thanks!!
Niels
You need to download the 64-bit version of Workstation
VMware-workstation-6.0.2-59824.x86_64.tar.gz
Duh - I'm soooo stupid and I do blush of shame. I never even looked at the dl-links to see that there were a 64 bit Linux download. I'm sorry!!
Thanks!!!!
Niels
