Cannot connect to HOSTS network from VM(Windows 7).

Hi,

I cannot get my VM Windows 7 to connect to the hosts network. I have tried BRIDGED, it just wont connect. The goal of my project is to setup a VM, with Steam installed and stream games to another PC on the network.

But for Steam In-Home streaming to work, they have to be on the same network.

Any advice?

Please provide more details, incl. Virtual Network Editor and VM settings.  Also, what do you see as "it just won't connect"?

I'm pretty new to setting up VM's. What information do you need.

It's a Windows 7 VM, with the VM Workstation installed on Windows 10.

Here's a screenshot of the settings for VM.

I assume you're using VMware Workstation.  If yes, you can find Virtual Network Editor under Edit on the Menu bar.

Then (again), what do you see to make you say "it just won't connect"?

Yes, VM Workstation.

It won't find any networks when using BRIDGED. When I change it to NAT, I can get Internet access. But I cannot access other PCs on my network.

Screenshot of settings and VM behing, see the Network status.

What is your host OS?  Workstation version?

Can't see screenshot here either, BTW.  Just attach it...

Hi,

The host is running Windows 10 64bit. The VM is Windows 7 32bit.

NAT works with internet, but no local network. Bridged Mode or Host-Only doesn't connect to my local network. In Bridged mode, it "see's" the host PC in the network. But can't connect to it to browse the files.

Issue resolved. It was VirtualBox network adaptors conflicting with VMW adaptors. I just deleted the virtual adaptors crated by VirtualBox.

Thanks.
