Cannot connect USB devices to VM - Stopped working

I'm running Ubuntu Mate on a GPD Pocket 2, 8GB RAM. I'm running Kali Linux in Workstation, and plug in a USB Wifi Adapter. When I try to connect it to the VM I get the error "The connection for the USB device RALINK 802.11n WLAN was unsuccessful" then below it says "Driver error". Oddly, this did work a week ago. Fresh install of Ubuntu Mate. It also appears that USB flash drives can no longer connect either. I've tried changing the USB settings to 3.1, but no difference so I switched back to 2.0. I tried a backup of the VM, but no difference. I'm not too familiar with low-level Ubuntu. Any ideas what might have happened, and how to fix?

Thanks!
