Cannot attach Creative Optia AF Webcam

I just tried a new Creative Optia AF webcam, and it doesn't appear to work.

Any suggestions?

Host:

WinXPSP2

When attached, USB recognized it as a USB Composite Device,

and installed both USB video and audio devices.

Guest:

WinXPSP2

See below for the logs. The checkmark next to the USB device

does not stay selected, and nothing appears mounted in the

VM.

The log starts from when I first started verifying my new webcam and old webcam on the host (both work fine on the host), and continue with my attempts to get the new webcam into the guest (the old one works fine).

What version of VMware Workstation?

WS 6.0.0 build 45731

Further information ...

Once I even attempt to attach the device to the virtual USB, not only does Workstation not attach it, it doesn't properly give it back to the host, so it becomes unavailable until I physically detach and reattach to the host.

When the device is properly attached to the host, Device Manager reports a USB Video Device[/i] as an Imaging Device[/i], and a USB Audio Device[/i] under Sound, video and game controllers[/i].

Any thoughts? I've a pretty pricey brick here. I'm even willing to ship it to VMware if it necessary to help get the issue resolved, since I cannot use it until VMware works with it.

Any thoughts? Its been a month, and I still have a pricey brick that I'd like to use, so I'm willing to provide the device to VMware if it would help. I realize that this is a new USB item, but it is highly rated, and I doubt that it will remain rare for long.

The problem is resolved. With the same VM, the Creative Optia AF works flawlessly under VMware 6.0.2 Build 59824. I was not able to test against VMware 6.0.1, as I didn't have the camera with me in that timeframe, and don't feel the need to revert just to test. so I cannot say which version introduced the fix, but the current version has it.

Thanks guys!
