Can we create vdi lab, vcloud lab on workstation 8 or 9

I am planing to create vdi and vCloud two seprate labs on my desktop is it possible to create this on workstation ?

my desktop configuration is

CPU : i5 1st gen

RAM : 16 GB

HDD : 500Gb

vmware : workstation 8, esxi, virtual center apappliances

os : I have windows 7 and windows XP. (I am not sure which os I should use but I am planing to use XP because it use less physical memory than windows 7)

Please suggest me if I miss any thing.

It will be a tight squeeze. It may be better to just install ESXi on your workstation and see if it works.  You will be surprise to see that there are many devices out there that are not on HCL but they work.  If it works, you can take advantage of ESXi smaller memory overhead compare to your windows 7 or XP and ESXi has memory management (TPS, compression, etc) to squeez in more VMs.  I highly recommend using SSD for better performance.
