Can't see cursor in XP guest on Ubuntu Host

I have an Ubuntu 7.04 host that I run a Windows XP guest on. I have been tackling various issues with workstation 6 and Ubuntu and this one is throwing me for a loop. When I have the XP VM loaded, I lose my mouse cursor inside text areas of applications. If I move the mouse over the menus in notepad,Visual Studio, Word, the mouse reappears as a arrow. Even things like Start > Run> and typing a command are affected. This makes is painfully difficult to create a word document, or do anything that requires using a mouse and a text cursor frequently...

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Happens to me all the time running fusion from my macbook (guest os ubunto 8.10). I run ubuntu in full-screen mode. I get the mouse cursor back by moving to the top of the screen and waiting a bit so I see the vmware fusion menu, then when I move back to the ubuntu desktop, I see a mouse cursor.

It is very annoying, however. I really wish it didn't happen.
