    Welcome to the Community,

In order to be able to help you need to provide some details about your host and the VM's network setup.

    • Are you running XP with SP3?
    • Do you have any Internet Security/endpoint protection software installed on the host?
    • How did you setup the VM's virtual networks (Bridged, NAT)?
    • Please provide the output of ipconfig /all for the host and one of the VM's.

    • Sorry for this short reply but it is easy
    • Are you running XP with SP3?  YES with SP3
    • Do you have any Internet Security/endpoint protection software installed on the host?
    • ONLY FIREWALL Ashampoo for Windows XP
    • How did you setup the VM's virtual networks (Bridged, NAT)?  NAT
    • Please provide the output of ipconfig /all for the host and one of the VM's.
    • For the host running Windows XP it is possible. For one of the VM's it is difficult (I test Ubuntu 10, 11, 14 (Linux) and I do not know how).

Don't worry about the ipconfig output.

Assuming the NAT virtual network is configured with defaults, you should see a "vmnet8" virtual network adapter on the host!? What's important for the VM's network setup is that the VM's have an IP address in this subnet and the Default Gateway as well as the DNS Server are configured with an IP address 192.168.xxx.2. If this is the case and you are still not able to access the Internet, you may try to temporarily disable the firewall to see whether this blocks the traffic.

"you may try to temporarily disable the firewall to see whether this blocks the traffic".

    This still does not work.

Can you look at my file ipconfig.zip.

The file looks ok to me. I just cannot tell you for sure whether VMware Player and Virtual Box can coexist without issues (although this should work).

Anyway, the virtual NAT adapter has the IP address 192.168.28.1, so your VM's should be configured in this subnet, i.e. 192.168.28.3...127 (static addresses), and/or 192.168.28.28..254 (dynamic/DHCP). Assuming that you can access the VM's from the host and vice versa the IP addresses should be ok. In this case please double-check the VM's default gateway and DNS Server addresses and make sure they are set to 192.168.28.2.

As a test try to ping an Internet IP address (e.g. ping 8.8.8.8) to check the default gateway, and run nslookup (e.g. nslookup vmware.com) to find out whether name resolution is working.

André, I'd like to add my $0.02 worth of information to add to this issue:

First, a brief configuration on the host:

    1. 32GB RAM
    2. 20.5TB Storage
    3. OS: Win 10 Pro x64 (current with all updates, and current build.)
    4. VM defined and used in both Admin profile and Standard User profile (proper security settings applied.)
    5. VM in use: VMware(r) Workstation 12 Pro (12.1.1 build-3770994; current VMWare Tools installed v10.0.6, build-3595377)

    To respond:

    • Are you running XP with SP3? - Host: Win 10 Pro x64 (v1511 OS Build 10586.420)
    • Do you have any Internet Security/endpoint protection software installed on the host? NO
    • How did you setup the VM's virtual networks (Bridged, NAT)? NAT CORRECTION: BRIDGED (*)
    • Please provide the output of ipconfig /all for the host and one of the VM's. See: 1) Win 10 Client.20160616.txt; 2) Win 10 Host.20160616.

(*) I misread the configuration settings. The BRIDGED connection is NOT able to access the internet. NAT is able. WiFi adapter remains as indicated - not able to connect to internet.

    Observations:

I have my VM configured with four clients: 1) Win 10 Master; 2) Win 10 Clone; 3) Win 7 Master; 4) Win 7 Clone. Both clones have same issue. The issue appeared to occur immediately following automatic MS update to Win 7 Clone and Win 10 Clone. The updates brought the clones up to current release levels as define by MS. All four clients are x64 running same version of VMWare Tools.

Correlation? Perhaps. Because internet connectivity was lost after the same exact event occurred (pushed update from MS); it is possible that something was included which has caused NAT (and bridge?) to fail. Also known is that if a WiFi adapter is connected via USB, the same event occurs. It connects to the router, and fails to provide outside internet connection.
