Can't Unmount Internal SATA ext4 Drive in Windows 10

0down votefavorite

I am trying to "Add Physical Disk to a Virtual Machine" via:

https://pubs.vmware.com/ws6_ace2/ws/wwhelp/wwhimpl/common/html/wwhelp.htm?context=ws&file=ws_disk_ad...

System Details:

-Windows 10

-Vmware Workstation 14.1.1 build-7528167

Drive (D:) Details:

-Preinstalled with Ubuntu 17.1

-Formatted ext4

-FireCuda SATA

-Available for selection in Workstation as PhysicalDrive1 where PhysicalDrive0 is Windows Host (drive (C:))

Problem:

From the prerequisites provided in the link, I can see that I need to

  • unmap the Ubuntu drive (D:) which is a greyed-out option in Disk Management.
  • unmount/eject the Ubuntu drive (D:) which not an option in File Explorer

Is there a reason that Windows does not want to let me do these things? See pictures at (virtual machine - Can't Unmount Internal SATA ext4 Drive in Windows 10 - Stack Overflow) for potential clarification. All help is appreciated!

Now I cant open the page https://pubs.vmware.com/ws6_ace2/ws/wwhelp/wwhimpl/common/html/wwhelp.htm?context=ws&file=ws_disk_ad... , it's 404.

Do you have ever try to add the disk by "Physicaldriver1"  successfully, but failed when unmap it? Can you try to unmap it from the WS UI to remove the disk?

Have you tried to set the disk-status to "offline" ?
