I have Workstation 6.02 installed on My Vista Business OS, I then and some XP Pro VM's setup. I can't burn to my CD/DVD's in any of the VM's.
I can put a DVD or CD in the drive and can access it in the VM's. I can then put a blank CD in and it will show a CD icon for the D:\ drive. If I try to copy some files to the CD I get a error "D:\ is not accesible Incroect Fuction"
I have tried everything I can think of and searched the net for an answer. I really need to have this working. Any ideas what could be wrong?
What is the Virtual Optical Drive recognized as?
As far as I know, Workstation Presents it as a virtual DVD/CD Rom Drive only, not an RW. Check device manager and see how it's presented.
I don't know if it's even possible, let alone not having done it myself.
Post the .vmx file from the virtual machine

After changing the .vmx file and starting the VM I get this message:
"Your guest operating system is Windows XP and you have one or more virtual SCSI devices installed in your virtual machine.
Please be aware that Windows XP does not support the BusLogic SCSI adapter that VMware Workstation currently uses for its virtual SCSI devices. If you have not done so already, you will need to install our driver in the virtual machine. You can download the driver from our Web site at "http://www.vmware.com/info?id=43".
Click OK to continue or Cancel to abort."
I went to the link and can't find the driver I should install. Is there a direct link to this file?
yeah, VMware rearranged their site again. It's under Desktop > Workstation > Tools and Drivers
This should have what you are looking for:
http://www.vmware.com/download/ws/drivers_tools.html
That error comes up in VMware fusion for anyone that has converted a machine or imported an existing one. sometimes you can just ignore the error message.
hopefully, this gets you going __
Thanks I see it now!
I have the same problem as the original poster when trying to burn in VMWare Workstation
Workstation version: 6.5.2
Host OS: XP SP2
Guest OS: XP SP2
I get "E:\ is not accessible. Incorrect function." when I try to access the drive with a blank disc in it through My Computer. Some other burning software just shows an empty list where the available drives should be.
Here are the details from my vmx file for both connected drives:
scsi0:0.present = "TRUE"
scsi0:0.exclusive = "TRUE"
scsi0:0.fileName = "G:"
scsi0:0.deviceType = "cdrom-raw"
scsi0:1.present = "TRUE"
scsi0:1.exclusive = "TRUE"
scsi0:1.fileName = "H:"
scsi0:1.deviceType = "cdrom-raw"
Both were originally set to exclusive = "FALSE" but I tried changing this to TRUE to see if it would help, no joy.
I've updated VMWare tools but after that I'm at a loss. Any suggestions?
