I'm running VMware WorkStation 10.0 on a Windows8.1 64-bit computer. I tried creating a new VM (Windows 8.0 64-bit). When I try to open the VM I get a dialog stating that Binary translation is incompatible with long mode. When I click on the OK button, I get a dialog stating this VM is configured for 64-bit quest operating system. However, 64-bit operation is not possible.
Soon after upgrading from Windows 8.0 to 8.1 my BIOS were upgraded.
I tried VMware WorkStation 10.1, same bad results.
What do I do now?

While eating dinner I realized the solution which I'm now doing. After the BIOS were updated I forgot to "Enable Virtualization Technology".
Run SecurAble to first determine if you have enabled the necessary CPU features in the BIOS and let me know the results.
Results:
Intel Core i7-3700S CPU @ 3.10GHz
Max bit length=64
Hardware DEP=YES
Hardware virtualization=YES
While running windows 8.0 I was able to create and run VMs. Soon after upgrading from Windows 8.0 to 8.1, my BIOS were upgraded.
