Can no longer cut and paste between guest and host, either direction

VMWare Workstation Pro 16.2.1 build-18811642, VM -> Settings -> Options -> Guest Isolation two boxes checked, entire pane is grey (cannot change)

Host Windows  10

Guest Debian 11, open-vm-tools-desktop 2:11.2.5-2 installed and running

Formerly, cut and paste worked either direction between guest and host.

After shutdown, creation of clone, then restart of guest (original guest, not clone), cannot paste between systems. Cut/copy and paste work fine on both guest and host, but the pasted item is always the item that was last cut or copied on that OS, not the immediate previous cut/copy, which is from the other system.

Any suggestions to fix?

Check your disk sizes and see if anything is out of space. I was coming across this when transferring items and found that my PCs hard drive filled up.

For unrelated reasons, I had to restart the host OS (Windows 10). Cut and paste is now working properly again.
