Can a non-root user share a virtual machine?

I am using VM Workstation 10. I have "Enable virtual machine sharing and remote access." checked on and a sharing location set. from the root account on a Linux host.  I am successfully sharing a machine which others can connect to.

A non-root user has attempted to share a new VM, but when the "Share Virtual Machine Wizard" pops up, it reports that it can't find the Shared VM path.

In the non-root user's preferences, "Enable virtual machine sharing and remote access" is still checked, but the Shared location path is empty with a warning that it is unable to load the server information.  How do I make sure the users have permission to access the server?
