Can I run .vmx Workstation 8 on Workstation 7.x

I have created .vmx on VMware Workstation 8 and copy file to another PC that installed VMware Workstation 7.x.

Can I run .vmx on VMware Workstation 7.x? any idea?

Hi,

If the Guest OS is compatible with Worksation 7, surely it will work.

a VM created with virtual hardware version 8 will not run in Workstation 7

you have to downgrade the virtual hardware first

Hi PreedaS ,

You can do that , but need littlbit more effort while converting higher version to lower version. Most of the time its easy to lower to higher version but from higher to lower you have to go through premigration phase.

If at first you don't succeed; call it version 1.0"
