Can I run all VMs (created with Workstation) in VMWare player?

Assume I created a VM in a Vmware Workstation 7.1 installation.

Can I take each of such a VM and run it on a VMware player installation?

Or does Vmware Workstation offer special features which are required by the VM to run successfully?

If,

if you use vmware player 3.x you shouldn't have any problem.

Keep in mind that vmware player and workstation share a lot of its architecture.

AFAIK, yes. You can run these guests with Player.

From the manual: "VMware Player is not listed, but the information for VMware Workstation 7.x is applicable to VMware Player

3.x. Operating systems that are not listed are not supported for use in a virtual machine."

You should be able to run all VMs created in VMware Workstation in VMware Player (provided that the version of Player isn't so old that it doesn't support the VMs' hardware version), but some functionality might be disabled. (For example, Autoprotect Snapshots, the built-in VNC server).
