Can I run a 64bit Linux Guest OS on 32bit only hardware?

Assume I want to install a 64 Linux system on a physical hardware which has only 32bit.

Is this somehow possible?

Matt

Nope. The CPU is virtualized (not emulated), so VMs will see the same physical CPU as your host and have only its capabilities.

So that mean that I can run a 64bit Guest OS (linux) on a 32 bit WinXP host on a 64bit CPU?

It does not matter if you host is running a 32-bit or 64-bit host OS.

You need a supported 64-bit physical CPU in your host

Here is the requirements in the following knowledgebase article
