Can I install Windows 8 on VMware Workstation Ver 6.0.2.598224?

I have the VM Workstation ver 6 on the MS-Vista machine. I can install Windows XP OS and LINUX OS. But...

I want to install Windows 8 Consumer preview on the VM Workstation ver 6, and I got an error when I tried to install it. The error message is "Your PC ran into a problem and needs to restart. We're just collecting info, and then we'll restart for you. (0% complete)". Then it will restart... and restart it again... Can someone tell me how to install it? Thank you.

I'm afraid you can' install using WS 6.x.  Try installing the WS Technical Preview Beta which is free and good unitl Oct 15. You can use WS 8.x but its a bit trickier.

Even then you can't  install it on a 32 bit physical machine as the poster following correctly states.

Unfortunately , Windows 8 can only be installed on VMware Workstation 8 , it will not work even on the version 7.

Youocan try to reinstall    using LSI in a custom install - however it still will   not work with WS 6.
