Can I access Windows VM anywhere on Internet?

Hi,

I have created a Windows 10 VM on VMware Workstation.

I can access Internet in Windows 10 VM by both ways; NAT and Bridged network.

Host OS is Windows 10 and laptop is connected with wifi for Internet connection.

Can I access Windows 10 VM anywhere on Internet?

If yes, please be kind to elaborate steps.

Regards

Short answer: It depends.

Long answer:

A NAT connection shares your network connection but hides the computers behind it, in a private IP range.  You can map specific ports through the NAT to a specific IP, but otherwise the computer is hidden from the rest of the network.

A Bridged connection shares your network connection and makes your VM appear like any other computer on the network.  So if you can access other computers on your network from the internet, then you will be able to access a VM with a bridged connection.

There may be host firewall software/rules in place preventing any of these types of connection.

So, you may need to investigate other factors currently in place if you have a bridged connection to your VM but still cannot access it from the outside world.

I believe it can be done but I don’t know how to start.

Also I know, preferred network connection type for this setup is bridged network connection. Would like to suggest me a link that can help me to start the setup?

A good start is always to read the Workstation manual.  Smiley Happy
