Bridged Networking

Ok, I'm using Limestone Networks hosting and the host is a 64bit Windows 2003 server. The guest OS is Windows XP. Limestone Networks gave me 3 extra IP addresses to use and they said that I could bind them to my VMware Workstation 6 VM's and get access to the internet. Well, I assigned the VM the static IP that I was given and it says that it's connected, however when I ping the internet there's no reply, when I ping the server locally there's no reply, and then I'll look at the status of the network card on the VM and it shows it's sent 9,000 packets but 0 received. However, it says it's still connected to the network! I checked the host, and it's connected to the internet just fine and everything seems to run. I triple checked the static settings that I gave the guest VM and everything is correct, I even confirmed them with Limestone networks. I can't figure out why this is happening because I did this on Zenex5ive hosting with no problems a few weeks back.

Anybody out there who feels like helping me out? lol I'm pulling my hair out over this stupid network problem!

Post the results of ipconfig/all on both the host and guest.

When you ping the host and your router, what is the response?

Hey Lou,

Thanks for the help man, I really appreciate it...I tried pinging both the host and the router and both have no reply, which I'm assuming there's something blocking it from doing so...I just can't figure out what.

Here's the stats on the ipconfig /all command on both the host and guest. Thanks man for the help!

Did you check NIC > VMnet assignement with vmnetcfg.exe ?

You may need to disable automatic bridging and assign manually
