Boot USB from BIOS

Hi,

I tried to boot from USB with VMware Workstation 7.1.4 but it seems VMware don't permit it.

For the moment, I found a workaround with ISO "Plop boot manager" that provides USB boot, even if BIOS don't support it.

Maybe VMware has planned to support it ?

Thank you Smiley Wink

Hello,

There's several workaround afaik.

1. You can use a Raw Disk Mapping (depending on your host OS this might not work) and map the USB disk as if it is just a disk

2. You can abstract that it is a usb device and put a virtual disk on your usb disk

I have already a workaround with Plop Boot Manager, and it work perfectly.

But, it's not a real solution...

I use Plop as well and with current workstation you have no other option to boot USB devices

PLOP works perfectly, shame that USB boot is not supported in the Workstation 7 BIOS.
