BSOD when uninstalling 5.5

a couple days ago i downloaded version 6 and tried to do an upgrade. i ran the installer and it wen ahead and started to uninstall 5.5 then suddenly i would get the blue screen of death for about 2 seconds as it dumps the memory (too fast to actually see what went wrong) then it would go into a reboot.

so i tried to uninstall vmware using the add remove programs instead and i get the same thing it starts to uinstall then BSOD and reboot.

this is on a 32bit vista host

how do i get rid of 5.5 so i can install 6.0?

Try using the WS 5.x installer /c option to cleanup the failed uninstall

Example:

VMware-workstation-5.5.3-34685.exe /c

ok running the /c on both the 5.5 installer and the 6 installer got it installed but now its not taking my serial number. saying no matching licences fo this serial were found.

The license key from VMware Workstation 5.x will not work with VMware Workstation 6. Also you must be use a license key that is for your host OS.

For example a License key for Linux host will not work on a Windows host.
