Automatically powering on VM after power loss

I'm trying to utilize VMware to keep a virtual machine on in the background whenever my host computer is powered on. I have noticed that whenever my host computer restarts or loses power during a power outage the computer will power on successfully while the VM is left off. Is there a way to suspend the VM instead of shutting down in this scenario so that the VM can recover itself?

I currently am using a batch file in the startup folder to open VMware workstation upon my computer powering up.

I am open to ideas of how I can do this better or other options for what I'm trying to do, but at this point I am unsure of how to set VMware up in this manner. Many thanks to anybody who may be able to provide assistance.
