Any luck with Canon Rebel XT and Windows XP Pro Guest?

My Windows XP guest crashes (with the ol' blue screen of death) after connecting my Digital Rebel XT. I am using VMWare workstation 5.5.3 on a Linux host.

The XP Pro guest has the same behavior with a fresh install (which includes SP2), and also after running Windows Update.

The connection itself \*seems* to be okay. It is when the Canon CameraWindow application is starting that the crash happens. It \*seems* that the device is set up correctly as far as Windows detection, but when the real communication starts with CameraWindow is when the crash happens.

Has anyone else seen this problem, or have suggestions?

Also...CameraWindow works with no problems on a Windows 2000 guest OS.
