Any guest OS runs at 3X speed on AMD Dual core host

Workstation 5.5.3 - regardless of guest OS - runs about 3-4 times faster than normal. I use VM to debug and test software applications, and this is a big problem. It even affects double-click speed: normal double-clicks are ignored - you have to be really fast to get the system to respond.

This is not just a matter of keeping the system clock in sync - the machine is just running too fast.

I have seen this topic in other posts but they all seem to dead end. Is there any help for this?

The host machine is an AMD Athon 64X2 Dual Core 3800+, 2.01 Ghz, with 2 Gb RAM.

Thanks for any help. I have no problems running the same guest environments on my laptop.

Hi Mike

What is your host OS?

What is your guest OS?

If running on a Windows host, install the AMD Dual-Core Optimizer

Morning, Kevin.

The host OS is XP-SP2. I have guest OS's for XP, 2000 Workstation, 2000 Server, 2003 Server and Vista.

As it turns out, I fired up each guest os and checked it, and each worked fine. I then powered off the two XP guests I had problems with and restarted them, and now they are also running OK.

So - looks like a glitch that cured itself when I cycled the Guest os's.

Thanks for the optimizer link - I'll download it.

Mike
