After VMWare Tools install eth0 vanished! Host: Vista, Guest: SuSe 10

Installed the rpm version of VMWare Tools from virtual CD, Now eth0 is gone! Followed instructions on how to switch from pcnet32 to vmxnet (see attachement). STILL doesn't see it! Anyone have any ideas?

To use the vmxnet driver, restart networking using the following commands:

/etc/init.d/network stop

rmmod pcnet32

rmmod vmxnet

modprobe vmxnet

/etc/init.d/network start

What is listed in /etc/sysconfig/network?

What exact version of SuSE? 10.0, 10.1, 10.2, 10.3...etc?

Post the contents of ifcfg-eth-id-00:0c:29:56:83:35

Please just copy / paste the text and not use .jpg

post .vmx file from the virtual machine

You may be able to just rename ifcfg-eth-id-00:0c:29:56:83:35 to ifcfg-eth0 depending on the contents of the files you post.

OR just run the network maanger to configure your network crad in the guest OS.

I have tried the network manager on Linux to no avail. If I: ifconfig eth0 192.168.117.x netmask 255.255.255.0 it works. I can ping, but cannot browse the web. Don't know how to input the dns addresses using cmdln. As soon as I reboot it is all gone including eth0. This is the second time I have installed Suse as a guest (same thing last time).
