5 button mouse works on XP guest but not on Server 2008 guest

I have assigned PageUp and PageDown to the two extra left-side button and right-side button, respectively, on my Microsoft Intellimouse. They work as expected on my XP guest, but not on my Server 2008 guest. Using notepad, every time I click the left-side button, '3' is registered and entered in notepad instead of a PageDown event. Likewise, '9' is registered and entered in notepad instead of a PageUp event.

I'd really appreciate if someone can come up with a fix.

OK, I noticed that if NumLock is off, it works as expected.

It would be nice if it is independent of NumLock status.

That's not something VMware is doing, it's just passing the hardware event to the guest. How the guest interprets the button press is handled by whatever software is doing the remapping.
