3D acceleration on multiple concurrent VMs

I'm using VMware Workstation 7.1 on a Win XP 64bit host.

I have two VMs (full clones) running WinXP 64bit (VMware tools installed), both with enabled 3D-acceleration and Windows dxdiag reports Direct3D is enabled.

I noticed one of them performs 3D (OpenGL) much better than the other one. Even if I run only 1 VM at a time, they behave differently.

Is it possible to run multiple concurrent VMs with 3D-acceleration?

How can I check VMware is actually accelerating the VM?
What can impact on 3D-acceleration?

Note: the current configuration of the VM (vmx) includes:

svga.numDisplays = "2"
svga.maxWidth = "3840"
svga.maxHeight = "2400"
svga.vramSize = "134217728"

I don't see any mks.enable3d = "true" but I don't know if it is really needed

I forgot, the host has an accelerated GPU: Quadro FX 5800/PCI/SSE2
