Do you have an antivirus installed? If so try disabling it.

Have you verified the MD5 checksum of the downloaded installation package?

I call VMware for help to install this but because Im doing the trial I dont get support? This is not a good way to build customers when I'm being told to buy the software before I get  tech to help!

Would you please try below steps?

  1. Uninstall VMware Workstation.
  2. Delete all files under %TEMP% directory.
  3. Open cmd as administrator, and execute net stop vstor2-mntapi20-shared & sc delete vstor2-mntapi20-shared
  4. Delete files C:\Windows\System32\drivers\vstor2-mntapi20-shared.sys or vstor2.sys and if have
  5. Go to c:\windows\system32\drvstore, delete folder which is prefixed by vstor2
  6. Reboot host and install Workstation again.
