VMware Player 12 unresponsive under Windows 10 Home

VMware Player 12 unresponsive under Windows 10 Home

Dear Partners,

Few months ago I installed VMware Player under Windows 10 Home and worked with it with any problem, all was perfect.

After some updates of Windows Update, I can't open VMware Player 12, it doesn't answer, unresposive, the application remains blocked with any answer, so I can't use VMware Player anymore.

I've unistalled and installed again VMware Player 12, but I continue with the same problem.

Any suggestion?.

Thank you so much in advance.

Hi

Did you try to install the latest update? VMware release version 12.5.1 this week.

Dear Karl,

Firstly, thank you so much for your reply.

After installing VMWare Player version 12.5.1-4542065, I get the same performing, VMWare Player is not able to open, I mean, it's like it hasn't been executed. I think that there is a Windows Update application blocking WMWare Player. I think that the Windows Update Applicaion is "KB3176936", but, curiously, I can't uninstall this update, suspect.......

Thanks again.

Hi Javier,

Which exact Windows 10 version / build do you use? Mine is Windows 10 Pro 64 Bit, version 1607 (Build 14931.1002).

I didn't figure out that the update you mentioned could cause any problems. I'm working with VMware Workstation Pro 12.5.2 and it runs fine. Also VMware Player (version 12.5.2) runs fine (but i don't really use it).

Did you check the Windows eventlogs? Are there any suspicious entries regarding VMware Player?

Did you try to start it as administrator (right-click => start as administrator)?

The actual version of VMware Player is 12.5.2. If nothing works try again to uninstall it, restart your computer, and download the most actual version from here:

Download VMware Workstation Player

Karl

Hi Karl,

  • I use the Windows 10 Home 64 bit, version 1607 (build 14393.0).
  • Regarding Windows EventLogs, find following the information I've got after the service is started:

          Using configuration file: C:\ProgramData\VMware\vmnetnat.conf.

          IP address: 192.168.21.2 Subnet: 255.255.255.0

          External IP address: 0.0.0.0

          Device: vmnet8.

          MAC address: 00:50:56:FF:DC:83.

          Ignoring host MAC address: 00:50:56:C0:00:08.

  • Yes, of course, I've tried it as Administrator.

In order to give you more information, I have another PC, windows 10 Home Version 64 bit 1511 (build 10586.679), in which I've installed VMWare Player 6.0.1 build 1379776, working successfully. Couriously, If I want to install VMWare Player 6.0.1 in my new PC (Windows 10 Home 64 bit, version 1607 (build 14393.0), I get the error VMWare doesn't work in this Windows Version.... Some incompatibility exists....

Let me check VMware Player 12.5.2 and let you know.

Thanks.

Best Regards - Javier

Thank you so much.

Hi Javier,

Are you working with the free version of VMware Player or did you buy a license? Probably thats a case for VMWare support.

Did you check the services that they are all up and running?

Found something with the solution to set some service to delayed start (but it's for VMware Player 9).

Hi Karl,

I'm working with the free version.

The information about some service delayed, I already have checked it some months ago, but it didn't solve the problem.

My personal opinion, it's that there is some block of MS.

Is there any email in order to contact directly with VMWare support, please?.

Thanks.

Best Regards - Javier

Hi Javier

Please excuse my delay, i was on travel the last few days.

Unfortunately VMware does not provide direct support as it looks to me. You have to be entitled to request support (bying a product with support like vSphere or so):

VMware Player Support, Training & Technical Documentation

You have to go via your MyVMware Account for further support requests, and there you should have a product listed / assiciated with your account:
