vmware workstation player access violation when Virtualisation Based Security is turned on

Hi there,

I want to use nested virtualization within my vmware workstation player instance for specific virtual machines.

This requires me to check the checkboxes when creating the vm:

- Virtualize Intel VT-x/EPT or AMD-V/RVI

- Virtualize CPU performance counters

However, this seems to not work when Hyper-V is enabled in the workstation, therefore, I had to disable Hyper-V by removing the feature from my Windows 11 install.

The feature is removed, and everything is working. However, if I now enable Virtualisation Based Security for better security of my windows system, since this technology is based on Hyper-V my virtual machine is now causing an access violation error when booted.

If I disable VBS in my windows system, the machine seems to boot normally...

The problem I have with this is that I want to have both VBS enabled as well as be able to run virtual machines with nested virtualization.

Should I post a log here to show my current issue?

Are there any VMX settings I can alter to get this to work?

Please help,

Hylke
