vmware player firmware efi, boot menu delay?

I entered in the machine's vmx file

firmware="efi"

Now my questions are, when do I have to press ESC to access the boot menu, and is bios.bootdelay="5555" needed?

Specifically (and to circle around the question in various ways)

do I have to press ESC before the vmware logo appears, or in the first 5.555 seconds of the vmware logo? is the bootdelay counted from the moment the vmware logo appears? Is there an ESC time window anyway? Is there documentation about accessing the efi boot menu?

I'm able to access to boot menu by pressing ESC many times, but I'm unsure and did not find it in Google.

Thanks.

As far a I know, the boot delay starts after the logo shows up. You can press the ESC key as long as the white bar at the bottom is moving. Without setting the "bios.bootdelay" it's more or less luck to hit the ESC key at the right time.
