vmware player 3.1.4 updater on vista

I launched my Vmware player (3.1.3) and was notified a new version (3.1.4) was available and asked if I wanted to update... sure!

I watch the download and when it finishes I get a "Vmware Player Setup" window pops up. The problem is it's BLANK. No controls, nothing but a title bar. And that's where it sits until I kill the process.

Ideas? (I'd attach an image but not allowed here.)

Thanks.

Vista 32 bit with all the latest patches.

Welcome to the Community,

please take a look at Re: Blank Screen on installation to see whether this solves your issue.

That did it. I had an errant folder before the "0" folder".

(I see the image was attached. It said "removed" after uploading. Oh well, it all worked out.)

Thanks.

OOUCH!

The blank screen problem was corrected. I was able to activate the upgrade.

It said it had to uninstall the previous version, OK.

It said it had installed everything and I needed to reboot, OK.

BAM. After reboot there was nothing in the directory, zip, nada, nothing.

I downloaded 3.1.4 from your website and installed from scratch.

After install I launched the player and it immediately told me there was a "Free" upgrade to 3.1.4. Uh, what?

I cliked "download/install" and immediately got a popup to reboot.

Rebooted, and all is well.

What an experience! What's up with that?

Glad it's over. I've never had this problem before, hopefully never again.
