vmnat.exe limited connections on Windows XP

Hello,

I have some strange effects using Vmware Server or Vmware Player on

Windows XP, SP2 (tested with VMWare Server 1.03, 1.04 and Player 2)

When connecting to virtual Machines using NAT the Windows vmnat.exe

Service only allows 15 simultanous connetions (type established). Any

further connections are blocked.

Is there some limitation in the free Server/Player using Windows Host?

There is no such effect when using Linux as Host-System (vmnet-natd

doesn't seem to have such restrictions) and starting the same virtual Machine.

Has anyone seen same effects?

Thanks for answers or hints.

Tobias

I have done some more testing on this case.

It seems, that VMPlayer 2 has a restriction to 32 Connections (listening + established) and VMServer 1.04 is restricted to 64.

Is that limitation because of the Windows Operation System (maybe some kernel limits or limits to the SYS-Driver for the virtual Network-Devices)?
