.net WPF exe not running under VM

Hello everybody,

I have a .net WPF app that I've compiled into an .exe

Upon running the exe for the first time on the VM (win11, tried with AtlasOS also), I get the prompt for the .net dependencies and the nothing. It won't run. There are no errors. Tried running from console, tried as admin - nothing.

The exe works fine on 3 other machines - win10 and win11.

Any idea suggestions on how to proceed?

“Won’t run” is very vague, and this is likely nothing to do with a VM

Your first course of action is to find out why it’s not working just like you would on a physical machine. Have you examined any Windows logging (via Event Viewer) on the VM for clues?

if you got a message about .Net dependencies, did you check that they are all installed in the VM?  A cursory search on the web indicates that WPF apps compiled to .exe have requirements for .NET frameworks to be installed on systems that want to run the .exe.

Hello,

Yes I did double check that the dependencies are installed.

I haven't faced such problem, so I don't know how I would debug it on a physical machine. Do you have any pointers?
